He started wondering what is it that is so strange about the old romantic songs that it always reminds him of Chitra, each time like never before. This was not the first time he was listening to this song, yet it is appearing to be so fresh and lovely than never before.

FUCK!!… It was an outburst of the frustration coming out for the n^th time ever since I began to peddle this morning. Just like a shadow of disappointment that is gonna spread over the whole day, it came out for the first time early in the morning when the lazy ass-hole Samyak messaged that he will not be joining as the bloody scotch he had overnight has still got his body numbed and eyes sleepy. I was already on my gear and 2kms past my house. The pact we made the previous night was clear that he will go home and sleep. However it was foolish of me to believe that he would sleep a peaceful night on a Friday despite knowing the fact that he had just refilled his bar with all color of labels from Goa. Giving up, being not my style of commitment, I decided to carry on on my own, all alone to the most terrifying trail out of my city.

I was having a SOUND sleep.. The deewana was really cosy and the light never bothered me at all.. Guess the single shot of scotch inside was taking its toll.. Something smoothly comes in the air and makes a gentle landing on my back and after a moment, soft fingers start to dance on my feet.. It was then I came out of my mis-assumption that it was another dream, only to realise that the UNO enjoying gang has finally taken a break from their game and have decided to wake me up hook or crook. Needless to mention that the soft thing was a pillow and it dint land gently, but thrown upon me in rage. Well however ‘Legends’ about my sleep never go wrong, so  they gave up and went back to their game leaving me to enjoy my sleep for the rest of the night after 15 20 mins!!

The royal city of “Mysore” is a grand jewel in the crown of Karnataka. The more I visit this place the more I fall in love with it. This time the visit to this beautiful city was more special in many ways than my previous ones.

Right from our first ever trip of “Rottikallu”, the game of UNO has been an integral source of fun for everyone in our group (recently got itself named as “Travel Freaks”). It became so addictive among ourselves that even when we were getting out for lunch or leisure breaks, we used to take our bunch of cards with us, and were resuming after we are back. But recently as the trip motives drifted slowly from recreation to adventure, the concentration on the game was reducing (not completely stopped though) only because of the timing issues. Finally in the previous “Bekal” jaunt, we decided that it would be fair on our part to entirely dedicate a weekend to the game and planned the big “UNO NIGHT” to be held at Sana’s own house in Mysore. So our journey to Mysore thus began.

From off-beat mainline movies, Anurag Kashyap is moving towards ART. It is a great leap for the sensitive artist in him, but kalki.. man my admiration for her doubled for she has penned down this amazing story with Anurag.. Narating a story on screen is one thing but conveying things with indirect reference is a challenge in any art form. The Yellow Boots, Ruth’s search for her father, her job, coke ridden boyfriend and much more references, each start to get deeper the more we dig into it. The narration never gets elaborative about any of this (which would have made it boring) but ignites the necessary spark in viewers thoughts.

The beginning few minutes of the movie gives a clear message to the popcorn lovers that its not the kind of movie that they would really enjoy, allowing them with a chance to walk out. But for who stays, the world of Ruth begins to open up. It is a world of constant search and struggle. Search for existance, identity struggle for living. Finally when she meet, what she thinks, her destiny, it just turns out to be more horrifying than the struggle.

Its august 15th again.. The great day on which we got our Independence. Its been more than 50 years.. But still many questions remain unanswered. Many issues still remain not addressed.. NO!! I am not being cynic here.. I still remember my last years post and I still agree on each word I wrote. Ya, its a day of celebration.. Its a day of feeling proud of what was achieved.  But it also turns out to be a day on which we should ask ourselves many things.. Where this country going?? Where are we heading to?? What is happening around?? Is it acceptable?? Is it not the time we raise??

ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ಬಂದ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಎರಡು ಅದ್ಭುತ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳು “ಜಾನಿ ಮೇರಾ ನಾಮ್” ಮತ್ತು “ಯೋಗರಾಜ್ ..but”.

ಪ್ರೀತಂ ನಿರ್ದೇಶನದ ಪಕ್ಕ commercial ಚಿತ್ರ ಜಾನಿ.. ಎಲ್ಲ ವರ್ಗದ ವೀಕ್ಷಕರನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಇಡಲಿಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ಎಲ್ಲ factorಗಳನ್ನೂ  ಅತಿ ಸೊಗಸಾದ ನಿರೂಪಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಚಿತ್ರದ ಚೌಕಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ತುಂಬಿ ಇಟ್ಟಿರೋದು ಅದ್ಭುತ. ಕಥೆ ಅತೀ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಆದರು ಸಹ ನಿರೂಪಣೆ  ಹೊಸತನದಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿದೆ.. ಹರಿಕೃಷ್ಣರ ಸಂಗೀತಕ್ಕೆ ಭಟ್ಟರು ಮತ್ತೆ ಕಾಯ್ಕಿಣಿಯವರ ಪದಗಳು ಹೊಂದಿಕೊಂಡು, ಅದಕ್ಕೆ  ಪ್ರೀತಂ ಅವರ ಸೃಜನಾತ್ಮಕತೆ ಸೇರಿ ಮೂಡಿಬಂದಿರುವ ಹಾಡುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆರೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ನೋಡುವುದೇ ಒಂದು ಅದ್ಭುತ ಅನುಭವ. ಮೊದಲ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ರಮ್ಯಳ ಅಭಿನಯ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ನೈಜವಾಗಿ ಕಾಣತ್ತೆ. ಆದರೆ ಕಡೆಗೆ  its ವಿಜಿ who steals the show. Mannerism, dialogue, acting ಎಲ್ಲ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲೂ  ಬಹಳ matured ಆಗಿರೋ ಕಲಾವಿದ ವಿಜಿ. ಬಹಳ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಸರಳವಾಗಿರುವ ಕಥೇನ ಒಂದು ಸುಂದರ  ಕಲಾಕೃತಿಯಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿ ತಮ್ಮ caliberನ prove ಮಾಡಿರೋ ಪ್ರೀತಂ, ಇನ್ನು ಸೀರಿಯಸ್ noteನಲ್ಲಿ, ಮುಂದಿನ ಹಂತದ ಸಿನಿಮ ಮಾಡೋದಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಂದಾಗಬೇಕು.. ಅದು ನಮ್ಮ ಇಂದಿನ ಚಂದನವನ(sandalwood as called by hamsalekha)ದ  ಅನಿವಾರ್ಯ. ಕನ್ನಡೇತರರಾಗಿ ಹೋಗ್ತಿರೋ crowdನ pull ಮಾಡೋ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆ ಇದೆ.. Overall, ಜಾನಿ  ಒಳ್ಳೆ  ಸಿನಿಮ. ಇದನ್ನ ಹೇಳೋ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆನೆ ಇಲ್ಲದೇ.. It has proved itself.
